Mother’s Day will look a lot different this year, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be just as special!

For those who live around West Michigan where our HQ is located (in Grand Rapids), there are some incredible local options that can help you make your mom feel loved, while supporting small, local businesses at the same time.

HAPPY founder Emily Richett shared a few of our local favorites on My West Michigan just in time for Mother’s Day.

From gift sets and flowers to locally made food and craft drinks, you’re sure to find something in Grand Rapids to make this Mother’s Day special.

Flowers

While local florists and plant shops are still closed for in-person shopping, there’s a variety of options available to order ahead of time.

With locations in Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, and Holland, Eastern Floral is a great option for online Mother’s Day orders. They’re offering contact-free delivery and a wide range of options like fresh flowers, planter sets, and unique bouquets.

And, they’re offering a special bouquet specifically created for Nurses Week, which happens to be the week of Mother’s Day – the bouquet is offered at 30% off with the code: WZZM

Located in Breton Village, Southside Flower Market is also taking orders for Mother’s Day bouquets and arrangements, with both curbside pickup and delivery options.

Posh Petals is another local florist taking online orders for curbside pickup and local delivery.

Local Eats

Grand Rapids has no shortage of restaurants offering food that’s fresh and ready to eat on Mother’s Day. The Mitten Brewing Co. is taking phone orders (and payments) on Sundays from 2-9 PM, which you can pick up in their parking lot. Their pizza and craft beer is some of the best in town, and a portion of every purchase goes back to the West Side community.

Several local restaurants are offering meals to “take and bake” for Mother’s Day, like Amore Trattoria Italiana, a local favorite for its authentic, homestyle Italian food. You can find a Mother’s Day menu on their Facebook page along with how to order – note that the deadline to order is Wednesday, May 6, and you can pick food up on May 8-9, as Amore is closed on Mother’s Day.

Grand Rapids native, Steve Brechting (AKA Chef Brech), is offering dinner for four for Mother’s Day, including side dishes and dessert! On his catering website, you can choose between pickup and delivery between noon and 3 PM on Sunday, May 10.

Craft Beverages

If mom is a fan of craft beverages, you’ll want to pick up craft hard cider from Vander Mill. Simply place your order online and pick it up on Saturdays from 1-4 PM. Besides cider, (including the newest flavor, Ginger Zero), you can also place orders for merchandise, donuts, and pizza kits to prepare at home.

And for those who want even more variety, local stores like Martha’s Vineyard are still open and offering curbside pickup. The gourmet grocer offers specialty wines, craft beer, liquor, organic produce, desserts, and a whole lot more. You’re sure to find something that suits mom’s tastes.

Art of the Table is another great choice offering wine and treats to go with it. You can shop from a selection of Mother’s Day gift baskets at varying price points, with the option to add on a bouquet from Thelma’s Flowers. These gift baskets are available for in-person shopping, curbside pickup, and local delivery.

For moms with little ones, Duffield Lane is offering adorable mom-and-me outfits that are perfect for some at-home family mother’s day pics. The women’s boutique is located in East Grand Rapids and taking online orders.
